Snoqualmie Falls
This weekend Jules and I drove out to Snoqualmie/North Bend to see the area where Twin Peaks was filmed in the early 90s. This photo was taken at Snoqualmie Falls, which is about 45 minutes east of Seattle. If you’ve seen the show you might recognize this scene from the opening credits (the hotel on the top was called “The Great Northern.”) We also went to Twede’s Cafe, which was called the Double R Diner in the show. It doesn’t look anything like it did then (it burnt down and was rebuilt since) but we still had a slice of cherry pie and a “Damn fine cup of coffee.” It was a beautiful drive and a lovely way to spend some time together since I’ve been working so much lately. It gave Jules a good chance to practice driving in different scenarios as well, which is definitely a good thing.
Het!
Jules’ younger brother Ivan came to stay with us for a few days before the wedding. We had a lot of fun together, including stenciling t-shirts with bleach and visiting Archie McPhee, the “junk” shop down the street. Ivan looks styling with his new horse head.
The Clientele - Crocodile Cafe
Jules, Tony, and I went to see the Clientele at the Croc on May 28, the Monday after Sasquatch. (We were pretty busy and tired by that point!) It was a really nice show, and their sound was very true to what can be heard on their albums: a sort of wistful, gentle, 60s type of sound. The singer has a very particular singing style and it was fun to see how he had to crane his neck to make it come out that way. The crowd was fairly small, so it made for a pretty intimate setting.
