A Wii bit of fun

Pretty full and exciting weekend. Friday I went to see the Decemberists with Christian, Miyuki and Bill. Colin Meloy seemed to have a bit of a throat problem but he soldiered on despite it. It was a pretty nice show, but I didn’t know all the songs as they are out promoting The Crane Wife which I haven’t spent enough time with yet. Considering that I find their previous album Picaresque to be one of the best albums of all time, I was slightly disappointed to not hear more from that album, but they did throw a few classics in there. Woo.

Saturday Brendan and I went down to this city south of Seattle called Auburn to hang out at the Supermall because that was the only place “nearby” that was playing The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. The movie was okay for what it was supposed to be, but nothing spectacular. Since it was never intended to be shown in 3D there was only so much they could do with it. (The little advertisements and Disney logo before the movie were actually more impressive.) It was nice to be able to see it in the theatre again after 13 years. Prior to the movie we walked around and shopped all day, which was nice because it’s so rare I have a chance to do anything at a leisurely pace. I ended up getting a couple sweatshirts, some courderoy pants, and a courderoy skirt (in exactly the color and length Jules likes!)

Sunday I went over to Omni for some D&D after which we spent the rest of the night playing games on their Wii. It is a lot more fun than I expected, which sort of reminds me of my experience with the DS. I wasn’t all that impressed at a distance but once I got my hands on it, the gameplay was just so fun. I was really awful at golf, but I suppose that just mimics real life. I also got to try Guitar Hero for PS2, which was VERY fun and not as horribly complicated as I expected. I am thinking about getting it myself.

This morning Brendan came over and I helped him dye his hair blue. Then he came along with me to the optometrist and helped me pick out some frames. This is the style of frames I chose, and I ordered them in black. I can expect to get them in about 4 weeks because they’re currently backordered. I’m pretty happy that I found something I actually like because I think I look bad in almost every pair I put on.
