I’m Hearing: a random ambient Shoutcast stream
Hmm…I’ve been without the internet since Sunday but now that I have a chance to get online for a few hours (albeit not at my house) I don’t know what to write (despite the amount of stuff that’s happened in the last couple days)….how bizarre. The cable guy isn’t coming till next Tuesday so I’ll have to endure without net access for a week more (well, outside of work that is.)
So yeah…Sunday the guys helped me move from the dorm to the apartment…was quite an ordeal trying to get my loft into my room as it’s almost exactly the same length as the width of my room, but of course with their brilliant minds they were able to devise a solution that worked nicely. Getting that giant couch in the house was the most daunting of tasks, but the guys figured that one out too… :-) I love those guys to death. I bought them a Culver’s dinner and frozen custard to show my appreciation for their hard work. :3
I managed to do something wicked to my back during the move and all night Sunday and all day Monday my back was spasming painfully. On Monday I went home and had my mother and brother try working on it, which helped some. My arms are still aching.
So I’ve been in the house for a little over 3 days now…I’m the only one who’s completely moved in already since the other people are from out of town and haven’t brought in their furniture yet. The house is rather small, and my room is the smallest of all. I only have 2 power outlets in the room as well ^^;;;;;;;; Yikes. Only the kitchen window had blinds on it when I moved in (I think all the bedrooms have them now that we put some up), and with all the walls still bare and no furniture in the house, it doesn’t feel like a home yet. My room will feel much more cozy and livable once I get my Giger posters up on the walls. I may do that tonight if I get a chance.
As for internet…well…it seems that a wireless network is going to be the only feasible option. It’ll be much more expensive, yes, but less of a headache in the end since the wiring would be a total nightmare to set up.
So overall feelings about the new place…I mentioned that it doesn’t feel much like a home yet. I don’t feel especially uncomfortable there though since I’ve had a lot to keep me busy and I have all my things around me. I guess the thing I’m most uncomfortable with is the fact that there’s no internet connection…I could go on and on about this, but I am so unbelievably accustomed to having it always there whenever I need it that I feel cut off from the world without it. I really miss talking to people on IRC even though it’s only been a couple days…being able to check my email…checking a walkthrough when I get stuck playing a video game…I just have to make do for now. However…one thing I haven’t missed for a second (as of yet) is television, since I never watch it anyway. I doubt that I’ll miss it at all this summer… Anyhow, I figure, anything I really want to see I can have a friend tape or else just wait a few days and find a place to download it (since most of what I watch seems to end up online somehow).
I have also come to the conclusion that at some point this summer I’m going to have to get a new mobo and cpu since it seems that the mobo is on its last legs. Jon tried putting a new heatsink and fan on it but it didn’t help any. :\ MEH!
Rather tired at the moment…worked hard on organizing my room last night and there’s still a ton left to do…
